Happy Monday, TMSA!
It's almost October, my very favorite time of the year! Halloween is my favorite holiday--I absolutely love getting spooky and festive.
I'll be hosting a pumpkin book character contest throughout the month of October. Decorate a pumpkin (real or fake, your choice) in the likeness of your class's favorite book character. Think Elephant and Piggie, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Where the Wild Things Are, etc. The pumpkins will be amazing Halloween decorations for the media center. Have your kids help you decorate--get crafty! I want to especially encourage homeroom teachers to enter with your classes, but all staff--including administrators--are welcome to participate! Individual submissions from students are also welcome.
- NO CARVING, but anything else goes--paint, paper, felt, pipe cleaners, glue, markers, yarn, feathers, whatever you'd like! (Carved pumpkins will rot way too fast and I want them to last as long as possible.)
- Book characters ONLY - no TV characters, movie characters, etc.
- School appropriate, please!!

I will start accepting submissions on Monday, October 8. Pumpkins will be displayed on top of the shelves in the media center. Students will be allowed to vote for their favorites and then the creators of the top 5 favorite pumpkins will be awarded prizes on Wednesday, October 31--Halloween!
